[EN] Legrand Care increases security for access to the CMP with 2-factor authentication
Unauthorized access to the settings in the CMP can have major consequences for your home emergency call service and your customers. It is therefore important to ensure that no one can make changes to the devices from the outside or manipulate them in any other way. To further reduce the risk of unauthorized people logging into the CMP using your credentials, Legrand Care is enabling what we call two-factor authentication with TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) for all CMP users. The activation deadline is March 31, 2023. All users who have not activated two-step authentication by that date will be activated automatically. You are probably already familiar with two-factor authentication from other online services such as your bank, PayPal, Google or Microsoft accounts. Here, in addition to a username / email address and password, you also need additional confirmation of your identity. This confirmation is done by a "hardware token" that generates time-based "one-time" or "throwaway" passwords. You can resort to several ways to create this one-time password. If you already use a Google, Microsoft or other Authenticator app on your smartphone, you can most likely add and use another account in it for the CMP as well. Besides the possibility to work with a smartphone or tablet, there is also the possibility to generate the second factor on your computer. This works quite easily with small programs or extensions for your browser. Please note that you can only pair one device with the CMP for your access. So if you want to access the CMP with another device, it is best to use a smartphone, which you can also use on the road. We recommend that you use the time until the final activation for all, and already familiarize yourself with the new functions. März 2023 die sogenannte Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung mit TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) für alle CMP Benutzer. Vermutlich kennen Sie die Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung bereits von anderen Online-Diensten wie Ihrer Bank, PayPal, Google oder Microsoft Konten. Hier benötigen Sie neben einem Benutzernamen / E-Mail Adresse und Passwort ebenfalls eine zusätzliche Bestätigung Ihrer Identität. Diese Bestätigung erfolgt durch einen „Hardware-Token“, der zeitbasierte „Einmal“- oder "Wegwerfpasswörter“ generiert. Sie können auf verschiedene Möglichkeiten zurückgreifen, um dieses Einmalpasswort zu erstellen. Falls Sie schon eine Google, Microsoft oder andere Authenticator App auf Ihrem Smartphone nutzen, können Sie darin höchstwahrscheinlich auch für das CMP einen weiteren Account hinzufügen und verwenden. Neben der Möglichkeit mit einem Smartphone oder Tablet zu arbeiten, besteht auch die Möglichkeit, den zweiten Faktor auf Ihren Computer zu generieren. Dies funktioniert ganz einfach mit kleinen Programmen oder Erweiterungen für den Ihren Browser. Beachten Sie dabei, dass Sie für Ihren Zugang immer nur ein Gerät mit dem CMP koppeln können. Sollten Sie also auch mobil mit einem weiteren Gerät auf das CMP zugreifen wollen, verwenden Sie am besten ein Smartphone, welches Sie auch unterwegs nutzen können. Wir empfehlen Ihnen die Zeit bis zur endgültigen Aktivierung für alle zu nutzen, und sich schon jetzt mit den neuen Funktionen vertraut zu machen. So vermeiden Sie auch eine Unterbrechung ihres Zugangs zum CMP in der täglichen Arbeit.
